This album began its life right here in our very own Studio A… check out some great pop production by Milwaukee’s own D.A. Wallach and bandmate Max Drummey.
It was a blast to have them here for a few months last year, and we’re proud to have played a small part in this project.
This is the piece I’ve been working on the last couple weeks. It’s assessing the state of the loudness war in 2011 and concludes that artists are starting to push back. I got to interview two of my favorite mastering engineers (I know!) as well as Derek from Sleigh Bells, who talks a little about the direction of the new album, if that’s the kind of thing you’re interested in.
Not true! That would be true if you only played one show for your entire life. Then, the mathematical construct would make sense that you have to be in the right time at the right place. Forget about right time right place – it doesn’t exist! You create your place and you create your time through what you’re doing. It’s not about getting your foot in the door or meeting a person and them giving you an opportunity. Doesn’t exist. Does. Not. Exist. Nobody is going to sign you at a record company anymore – they’re not in the business of building an artist from scratch anymore. You got to bring them what you already have.
Um, kinda difficult to get much recording done here these days… looking forward to all this dust being gone for good!
Have you seen this? HTML audio wizard Scott Schiller is at it again: this time he’s created a double turntable set-up that runs entirely in the browser, can use HTML for the audio, and streams “records” from SoundCloud. It’s cutting edge stuff, so all the bells and whistles may not work on your system, but it’s worth checking it out. Nerds: so is his very detailed explanation of the tech.
And an extra special bonus: you can’t handle the nyan.

Let’s face it….the days of recording music for profit are endangered. People are seeking out ways to get the music for free more and more these days and the concept of making money on recorded music just doesn’t seem practical anymore.
Back in the day, a label would spend money producing a music…
Some solid ideas here for enterprising artists.
Now here’s something cool for all you Gorillaz-loving producers out there. After the success with iELECTRIBE and iMS-20, KORG has now teamed up with the Gorillaz to create a new dedicated beatbox for the iPad: The iELECTRIBE Gorillaz Edition.
The Gorillaz 2010 album The Fall was entirely produced on an iPad and now’s your chance to show off your producer skills using this new app Gorillaz style. And the cool thing about it is that it lets you share your productions to your SoundCloud account, straight from the app. Try it out and tweet us the links with your tracks to @SoundCloud so we can feature them.
Some of the product highlights include:
- KORG + Gorillaz = iELECTRIBE Gorillaz Edition
- 128 Gorillaz sounds, created using the iELECTRIBE synthesizer engine
- 64 Preset Patterns accurately reproduce some of the finest Gorillaz grooves from their latest album The Fall
See the app in our Apps Gallery or get it straight from the iTunes App store.
